In wet areas, the water management is not an easy task. In spring, one often finds oneself with a overflow of water. Abundant precipitations and the melting snow are responsible for this situation. Moreover, it was shown that 3 years out of 5 are crossed by one period of dryness which often corresponds to the critical period of growth.

It was shown that in certain cases, certain underground draining system quickly drains the root zone to make it impossible for the plants to adequately cross this dryness periode. Two water management techniques can cure this problem: the draining control system SCD and the underground irrigation system OASIS.

These techniques have like common objective to manage subsoil waters via the network of underground draining.
The draining control is a technique which consists in slowing down the speed of lowering of the water table by controlling the volume of water evacuated by the system.

By prolonging the presence of the water in the ground (figure 2), the provisioning of the plants is done over a longer period thus increasing the output of the cultures. In Quebec, more than 3200 units are already installed and the output increased by 10 to 40% in several types of cultures of which those of corn, soy, potato and the market-gardening productions.

DRAINING CONTROL SYSTEM SCD
The SCD is the basic tool in regards for the ground water management. Connecting to your draining network it allows, initially, united with the OASIS system, it makes it possible to practice the underground irrigation.

After that, following a period of heat wave, the evaporated rate raised combined with the absence of precipitations, causes a lowering of the water table. When the water table level is under the one of the fleet, the rubber reduction remains in position closed in order to maintain water in the network.

In draining control, , the underground precipitations and the underground tunnels are the only modes of provision which can contribute to refill the water table. The SCD adapts to the collectors, from 100 mm (4 in) to 250 mm (10 in) diameter, to your network of underground draining to improve profitability of it:

  • by increasing the outputs
  • by reducing the scrubbing of fertilizers
  • by preserving the water precipitations and irrigation
  • by reducing the excessive draining


IRRIGATION SYSTEM OASIS™
INNOTAG Inc developed the system of underground irrigation OASIS, an effective management water tool which enables you to satisfy your requirements in irrigation and draining. The system is automatic, easy to use and functions as follows:

IRRIGATION MODE
Not enough water? In period of growth, the weak precipitations combined with a high evaporation rate causes a lowering of the water table. The underground irrigation system OASISMC of Innotag comes "water help" for your plants by reloading the ground water in order to maintain a level favourable for their development. When the level sensor of tablecloth measures a level lower than that wished, the fleet urges the mechanism of control in irrigation mode in order to feed the plants.

STABILIZED MODE
No wasting! Innotag’s OASIS system is conceived to provide only the quantity of water necessary in order to avoid any wasting. When the level sensor of tablecloth measures the wished level, the fleet engages the control mechanism in stabilized mode. The food coming from the pump is then stopped. If no precipitations occur, the tablecloth drops more or less quickly according to evaporation rate. When the tablecloth reachs a level lower than that wished, the system returns in irrigation mode. So on the other hand if precipitations occur, the system passes in draining mode.

DRAINING MODE
Too much water? In period of precipitations, system OASISMC is conceived to allow an effective draining. When the level sensor of the tablecloth measures a level higher than that wished, the fleet engages the control mechanism in draining mode. The water supply coming from the pump is stopped and when the rubber folds back it opens in order to let the overflow of water run out. See the operation of the system in draining mode.
